The Performance P15-SE utilises a 35mm dual concentric diaphragm tweeter with a wave guided centre plug. With an extended frequency response beyond 40kHz, a full octave above most conventional dome tweeters, the result is a silky smooth tone that is the hallmark of the entire Performance range. The Performance P15-SE uses the same 6.5” Mid/Bass driver found in Whatmough’s larger, floor standing, Performance P28-SE and Performance P33i loudspeakers. It features a 33mm high temperature voice coil and a large double magnet system to ensure the Performance P15-SE has stunning dynamics and bass response for a speaker of its size.

Crossover Network

Our no compromise approach has been applied to the crossover network found in the P15-SE loudspeaker. High quality polypropylene film capacitors housed in a non-magnetic case with pure copper soldered lead-out wires and air-cored coils feature throughout. Each crossover is meticulously point-to-point hard wired to ensure you enjoy cleaner, more accurate, music and the maximum excitement from home theatre.

Binding Posts

The Performance P15-SE loudspeaker features a bi-wireable array of high quality binding posts that can accommodate banana plug, spade or bare wire connections. For best performance we always recommend running the Performance P15-SE in bi-wire or bi-amped configuration.

Drivers

The Performance P28-SE uses a 35mm dual concentric diaphragm with a wave guide centre plug that gives a silky smooth and extended response to beyond 40kHz. This is a full octave further than most conventional dome tweeters would extend to.

The Mid/Bass driver is a 33mm high temperature voice coil and a large double magnet system.

Crossover Network

Providing a smooth transition between speaker drivers is critical and is quite an art.  The expertise and attention to detail used  in the Performance Series crossover networks play a significant role in delivering spectacular sound quality, allowing you to enjoy cleaner and more accurate music and the excitement in movies. The Performance P28-SE uses premium quality capacitors of polypropylene film in a non-magnetic case with pure copper soldered lead-out wires.  Each crossover is point-to-point hard-wired.  Although labour intensive, is a necessity in achieving the highest quality sound. Superior circuit topology, large air-cored coils, cable and solder quality all play significant roles in obtaining the very best in sound reproduction.

Bi-wire

The Performance P28-SE perform at their best when bi-wired. Therefore Whatmough does not recommend any bridging applications.
